Nugent Pump Services is the only UK distributor for Bioteg odour control systems.

Subsequently, we have supplied odour control systems to Anglian Water, Yorkshire Water, Thames Water and other public sector companies.

What is Biofiltration?

Biofiltration is a natural and effective method for controlling air pollution. It uses microorganisms to break down unpleasant odours and harmful pollutants found in waste air. To begin with, these microorganisms live on the surface of the biofilter material and within a thin film of water that coats it.

As the contaminated air slowly passes through the biofilter, the pollutants are first absorbed into the water film. Next, the microorganisms begin to break them down. As a result, these harmful substances are converted into harmless by-products—mainly carbon dioxide and water. Importantly, this process does not generate any hazardous waste, making biofiltration a clean and environmentally friendly solution.

Biofilters

Unlike traditional filters that simply trap pollutants, biofilters actively break them down into biomass, water, and CO₂, allowing the filter media to self-regenerate over time. Therefore, this makes biofiltration a sustainable and low-maintenance solution for odour and emissions control.

MBF-Series: Manhole Biofilter

One example is the  Manhole Biofilter—a tool-free, easy-to-install insert that biologically removes odours from sewer manholes. It uses microorganisms to neutralise foul substances before they escape into the air. Additionally, the GullyQUICK system allows for fast installation and removal, simplifying maintenance.

Widely used across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, custom sizes are available on request.

REBF-Series: Vent Pipe Biofilter

These biofilters are  designed to reduce odours from a variety of vent pipes. While we offer a standard range of sizes from 4 to 17 inches (100–500 mm), custom sizes are also available upon request.
